In Lecco, the inaugural ribbon-cutting of the new hybrid motor vessel Olimpia took place by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Senator Matteo Salvini, in the presence of Undersecretary of State Alessandro Morelli and regional and local institutions.
Twin of the motor vessel Ambrosiana, inaugurated last year, the new hybrid vessel, 35 meters long and capable of carrying 350 passengers, will enter service in the summer, further strengthening the transport capacity of the Government Entity, which thus reaches 101 naval units in its fleet.
“Public lake transport represents a strategic asset to which Minister Salvini, through the Government Management, is dedicating maximum effort to make the lake a true highway that serves as an alternative to vehicular travel between lake towns,” these are the words of the Government Manager, Pietro Marrapodi: “Already in 2026, tenders are scheduled for the assignment of refitting and fleet renewal activities for over 23 million euros, in addition to the start within the year of works for the redevelopment of the Dervio shipyard. All this is in line with the timeline identified in the drafting of the Entity’s 2024-2029 Industrial Plan (with projections to 2034), which, in addition to investments in /infrastructure and digitalization for over 117 million euros, will also bring positive effects in terms of local employment and economic spin-offs.”
