Damen Shipyards Group delivered the first of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) 9020 to Ta San Shang Marine (TSSM) in Ha Long, Vietnam.
The company, a joint venture between Mitsui OSK Lines of Japan and Ta Tong Marine of Taiwan, will use the vessel to support operations in Taiwanese offshore wind farms during the construction and operation phases.
The delivery took place following sea trials conducted in Ha Long Bay during week 17. A christening ceremony for the vessel was held on April 29, attended by senior management from both partner companies and Damen. During the event, Patricia Liao, President of the Welcome to Taipei International Club (WTIC), christened the CSOV 9020 as TSS Cruiser.
The 90-meter Damen CSOV 9020 offers accommodation for up to 120 people offshore, with boarding and disembarkation via a motion-compensated gangway. The TSS Cruiser features diesel-electric hybrid propulsion and is prepared for future conversion to methanol propulsion.
Bram Langeveld, Commercial Director of Damen, stated that “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to TSSM for the trust placed in Damen. They have been a true partner throughout this project. Their collaborative spirit and unwavering professionalism have been fundamental in making this vessel a reality. Together, we have transformed obstacles into opportunities and challenges into progress.”
Following delivery, the TSS Cruiser sailed from Vietnam to Taiwan, where it will begin its first project at the Hai Long offshore wind farm, which will be equipped with Siemens Gamesa turbines. Delivery of the second vessel is scheduled for early next year.
