This morning, in the historic setting of Forte Michelangelo in Civitavecchia, the handover ceremony for the command of the Maritime Directorate of Lazio, the regional command of the Coast Guard, took place.
The event was held in the presence of Division Admiral Fabio Agostini, Interregional Maritime Commander of the Center and Capital of the Navy, and Inspector Admiral Vincenzo Leone, Deputy Commander General of the Corps of the Port Captaincies.
Captain Michele Castaldo, who is set to assume command of the Department (Air, Naval and Land Assets) at the general command of the port captaincies – Coast Guard, was succeeded by Captain Cosimo Nicastro. The latter leaves his position as head of the communications office of the same general command.
This concludes the term of Captain Castaldo in Civitavecchia. Under his direction, the three maritime compartments (Civitavecchia, Rome-Fiumicino and Gaeta) and the sixteen maritime offices located throughout the regional territory have guaranteed, along the kilometers of coastline under its jurisdiction, the safety of human life at sea and of navigation, environmental protection, and other institutional duties. The jurisdiction covers twenty-two coastal municipalities in the provinces of Viterbo, Rome and Latina.
Both Captain Castaldo and Captain Nicastro, the new Maritime Director of Lazio, reiterated that the Port Captaincy will continue to operate in the service of the community with constant commitment and without interruption.
