Castor Maritime Inc. announced the signing of an agreement, through a wholly owned independent subsidiary, to acquire a modern and eco-friendly Kamsarmax bulk carrier.
The unit, built in 2023, was purchased from an unrelated third party at a price of USD 37.5 million.
The acquisition, to be made in cash, is expected to be completed with the delivery of the vessel at the end of the quarter and is subject to the fulfillment of certain customary closing conditions.
Castor Maritime Inc. is a global diversified shipping and energy company, with direct and indirect activities in asset management, vessel ownership, technical and commercial vessel management, and energy infrastructure projects.
Upon completion of the aforementioned acquisition, the company’s fleet will consist of 10 vessels, with a total capacity of 0.7 million DWT. Castor is also the majority shareholder of MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital AG, an asset manager listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
