A letter of intent to establish a new public-private joint venture specialized in the logistics services of the automotive sector. It was signed yesterday afternoon by the CEO of CMA CGM, Rodolphe Saadé and the top management of the Port Authority of Capodistria.
The occasion for the signing of the MOU was provided by the visit to Slovenia of the French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the parties, the cooperation aims to strengthen Slovenia’s position as a sustainable logistics hub in the region and, with the support of CMA CGM, to improve the connection between foreign markets and continental Europe through maritime and intermodal links. In particular, the French liner’s goal is to acquire 27,000 square meters of land to develop a logistics site for the automotive sector.
Luka Koper and CMA CGM began collaborating in 2003, when the French company launched its first container line. Currently, CMA CGM handles about a quarter of the port’s container traffic.
