ROMA – Confetra institutional mission in Brussels – A delegation composed of the system of general secretaries of the Confederation met with European institutions to strengthen the dialogue on the topics of logistics, transport, and shipping.

Two intense working days saw discussions with Pierpaolo Settembri (Cabinet of Commissioner Tzitzikostas), with DG MOVE, with MEPs and officials from the parliamentary committees TRAN, IMCO and ITRE and with Ambassador Canaparo and his team, on all the main ongoing and upcoming legislative projects: from the Green Fleets Initiative to combined transport, from the airports package to the rail, maritime and port strategy, up to the dossiers on rail capacity, weights and dimensions, and customs.

The mission allowed to bring to the attention of the European institutions the issues of a sector, that of logistics, transport, and shipping, which too often remains on the margins of European policies, but which is in fact a strategic pillar for industrial competitiveness.

“We wanted this mission – explained Andrea Cappa, Confetra General Director – because we believe it is fundamental for Italian logistics to make its voice heard in Brussels. Too often our sector is perceived as a technical or residual element, while in reality it is a pillar of European industrial, environmental and social policies. The direct dialogue with the institutions allows us to strengthen our presence and contribute to more balanced and effective decisions.”

A precious opportunity for growth and collaboration for the entire Confetra system, which strengthens its commitment in the European context with the aim of helping to give logistics the space it deserves on the European agenda.
