In the third quarter of 2025, the Chinese group handled 29.85 million teu, with a growth of 3.6% compared to the previous year and strongly increasing results also in foreign terminals
Beijing – Cosco Shipping Ports recorded a new historic high in container traffic in the third quarter of 2025, handling 29.85 million teu, an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period the previous year. The result exceeds the previous record from the second quarter and consolidates the group’s leadership in the global port sector.
The new peak was driven in particular by foreign terminals, which handled 9.16 million teu, with an increase of 7.8%. In Chinese ports, the group’s terminals handled 20.69 million teu, growing 1.9% on an annual basis. This is the third highest value ever recorded domestically, only lower than the records of 2016, when 20.94 million teu were handled in the third quarter and 20.87 million in the fourth.
In the overall first nine months of 2025, Cosco Shipping Ports handled 86.52 million teu, an increase of 5.2% compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, 60.05 million were handled in Chinese terminals (+3.9%) and 26.47 million abroad (+8.2%).
In Europe, the result of the port of Vado Ligure (Italy) stands out, where Apm Terminals Vado and Reefer Terminal handled 442,000 teu (+93.9%) and 28,000 teu (-40.5%) respectively in the first nine months of the year. In the third quarter alone, the volumes were 181,000 teu (+67.6%) and less than 2,000 teu (-88.2%).
