Exmar orders four Suezmax tankers from Daehan, takes options for four more

Exmar NV has placed an order for four Suezmax crude tankers with Daehan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. at the yard’s Mokpo facility in South Korea.

The agreement includes options for an additional four vessels. The 157,200 dwt ships will be fitted with scrubbers and designed to carry about 1 million barrels of oil each.

The first delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. Exmar announced the deal on September 22, stating the order was made “in view of the strong prospects for the Suezmax market.”

Exmar NV is a public limited liability company incorporated in Belgium and headquartered in Antwerp. The company’s activities cover liquefied petroleum gas and ammonia transportation, as well as development and operation of liquefied natural gas infrastructure projects, including floating liquefaction and regasification assets. It maintains long-term contracts for LNG infrastructure services and has invested in dual-fuel mid-size gas carriers.

Daehan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. is a South Korean shipbuilder established as a private corporation with headquarters in Seoul and main production facilities in Mokpo. The company specializes in the construction of tankers and bulk carriers, supplying vessels to domestic and international owners.
