The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, highlighted the growth in the number of calls, emphasizing that “the 11 calls scheduled for 2025 contrast with the three from the previous year”.
Ibáñez stated that this increase confirms that the strategy carried out by the Port Authority is yielding positive results and that the Port of Castellón is positioning itself on the international cruise map.
The authority also highlighted the work done through the PortCastelló Foundation, which actively participates in the main industry fairs, such as Seatrade Europe 2025 in Hamburg, in order to generate strategic alliances and attract new cruise calls.
Furthermore, he referred to one of the main tourist attractions for the next season, the total solar eclipse that will occur on August 12, 2026, which has become a key attraction for future cruise calls.
“This growth is the result of the effort to position the port as an attractive, sustainable destination capable of generating added value for the local and regional economy,” assured the president.
The Port of Castellón receives this Sunday, September 21st, the World Navigator, the first cruise ship of this season, which marks the return of maritime travel to the terminal. The ship will arrive with 321 people on board, including passengers and crew, and is the first of six calls scheduled between September and November of this year.
The 11 calls scheduled this year in the ports of Castellón and Peñíscola consolidate PortCastelló as a key driver of tourism and the provincial economy. Furthermore, the port reinforces its role as an attractive and sustainable destination in the Mediterranean, aligned with the trends of responsible and experiential tourism.
The profile of the cruise passenger who chooses Castellón is mainly upper-middle class, seeking smaller-sized cruises and unique destinations, more exclusive and less crowded than typical high-traffic tourist destinations.
The upcoming calls at PortCastelló, in addition to the World Navigator, will be, on September 23rd, Crystal Symphony, by Crystal Cruises; the Emerald Sakara, by Emerald Cruises, on October 17th, 24th, and 26th; and on November 7th, World Seeker, by Mystic Cruises, to close the season.
