To implement the overall deployment of the “Dual Enhancement” skills competition by the Jiangxi Provincial High-Grade Waterway Affairs Center, with the main line of “dual enhancement of capability, quality, and equipment skills,” focusing on filling capability gaps based on job positions and forging a professional ship lock operation and maintenance team, the preliminary round of the 2026 “Dual Enhancement” skills competition of the Jiangxi Ganjiang Ship Lock Navigation Center recently concluded successfully. This competition adhered to the work orientation of full participation, all-round job competence, and dual-wheel enhancement, covering the three core positions of operation, maintenance, and safety. It used theory to solidify foundations and practical operations to hone skills, comprehensively testing the comprehensive job performance capabilities of frontline staff.

This competition was tailored to the actual work of all frontline positions in ship locks, innovatively establishing a dual-dimensional assessment system of “theory + practical operation.” It subdivided into four major competition modules: theoretical examination, lockage scheduling, equipment maintenance, and measurement skills, precisely matching the work responsibilities of the three major positions, achieving a seamless connection between assessment content and daily work. The event gathered the backbone forces from 7 ship locks under the center, with a total of 81 contestants competing on the same stage, showcasing their craftsmanship, sparking a wave of job training across the board for learning skills, comparing abilities, and strengthening performance.

The theoretical examination session focused on core content such as ship lock operation regulations, safety production management rules, and emergency response procedures, primarily examining the staff’s basic theoretical knowledge and mastery of regulations and standards, forcing all staff to delve deeply into professional knowledge, firmly consolidate basic job skills, and safeguard the bottom line of ship lock navigation safety. The practical assessment closely adhered to the goal of building all-round job competence. Practical projects were carried out in individual and team formats, including lockage scheduling, vertical and horizontal displacement measurement of lock chambers, and electrical fault troubleshooting, permeated with the concept of “dual enhancement of skills and quality,” promoting the coordinated emphasis on operational skills and job responsibilities, and the simultaneous enhancement of job hard power and comprehensive literacy.

The competition site was filled with a strong competitive atmosphere. The contestants remained calm, operated according to standards, answered questions rigorously and meticulously, and performed practical operations steadily and skillfully, fully demonstrating the meticulous craftsmanship and striving spirit of the frontline staff of the Ganjiang ship locks. The judging panel adhered to the principles of fairness, justice, and openness, evaluating and scoring according to regulations throughout the process, ensuring the orderly conduct of the event and the objective and effective results.

After the competition, contestants from various positions proactively conducted review and discussions, face-to-face exchanges of practical skills and sharing of job experience, identifying gaps and promoting mutual progress. Next, the Ganjiang Ship Lock Center will use this competition as a starting point to consolidate the results of job training, regularly carry out hierarchical and categorized skills training, continuously improve the talent cultivation system, and strive to build a professional ship lock operation and maintenance team, safeguarding the safe, efficient, and smooth navigation of the Ganjiang waterway, and assisting the high-quality and stable development of Jiangxi’s inland river shipping.
