On November 28, the No. 1 dock of Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) successfully completed its fourth docking-out operation of the year. The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) 16000TEU dual-fuel container ship No. 2 and the Guangzhou Yuanhai Car Carrier Co., Ltd. 7000-CE dual-fuel car carrier No. 3, both constructed in this dock cycle, were launched simultaneously. The significantly improved completeness of the two ships upon docking-out marks a new step forward for GSI in the construction technology and project management of high-end, complex ship types.

In 2021, GSI signed a construction order with the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Group for six 16000TEU container ships and two dual-fuel vessels. As of 2025, seven ships in this series have been delivered, and the No. 2 ship launched this time is the final vessel of the project. The project team summarized experience from previous ships, optimized the production process, and focused on docking-out completeness, enabling this ship’s various indicators to reach the highest level among ships of the same series. Production efficiency increased by nearly 10% compared to the first ship, and key milestones such as the dock-side generator engine /load test, main engine oil flushing, completion of the external gas fuel system, and tank sealing were achieved for the first time while still in the dock.

In the construction of the 7000-CE dual-fuel car carrier No. 3, the project team, guided by joint construction and collaboration, worked with the shipowner’s supervision team to strictly control area completeness and implement the “six closures” management requirements. Before docking-out, key milestones were achieved, including the removal of scaffolding for the entire ship’s air ducts, installation of /white iron /woodwork, non-slip sand laying on ramps from Deck 1 to 12, and the inspection of the LNG control system, setting a new benchmark for the construction of ships in the same series.
