Yiwu Customs released data on the 22nd showing that in the first half of this year, the total import and export value of Yiwu, Zhejiang reached 405.83 billion yuan (RMB, same below), a year-on-year increase of 25.0%. Exports amounted to 358.63 billion yuan, up 24.6% year-on-year, while imports totaled 47.21 billion yuan, rising 28.3% year-on-year.
The data indicates that in the first half of the year, Yiwu’s exports through market procurement trade reached 298.40 billion yuan, a 28.2% year-on-year increase, accounting for 83.2% of the city’s total export value and contributing 92.6% to its export growth. General trade imports and exports amounted to 82.37 billion yuan, up 11.9% year-on-year.
Regionally, Yiwu maintained double-digit growth in its major trade markets during the first half of the year. Trade with Africa, Latin America, ASEAN, and the EU reached 71.95 billion yuan, 62.17 billion yuan, 47.53 billion yuan, and 40.29 billion yuan, respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of 24.4%, 15.2%, 43.7%, and 21.3%. Trade with Belt and Road Initiative partner countries totaled 273.82 billion yuan, up 26.9% year-on-year, accounting for 67.5% of Yiwu’s total import and export value during the same period.
On the import side, Yiwu imported 25.93 billion yuan worth of consumer goods in the first half of the year, a 17.9% year-on-year increase. Among these, cosmetics and personal care products imports reached 4.51 billion yuan, up 7.5% year-on-year.
On the export side, Yiwu exported 41.15 billion yuan worth of plastic products in the first half of the year, a 25.6% year-on-year increase, while exports of clothing and accessories reached 37.70 billion yuan, up 29.0% year-on-year. During the same period, Yiwu exported 132.77 billion yuan worth of electromechanical products, a 23.2% year-on-year increase, accounting for 37.0% of total exports. Among these, household appliance exports totaled 10.10 billion yuan, up 20.5% year-on-year, while auto parts exports reached 5.80 billion yuan, surging 60.9% year-on-year.
