Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), terminal operated by Hanseatic Global Terminals, incorporated a tide gauge into its maritime monitoring system, cutting-edge technology that will optimize the management and planning of port operations and thereby continue improving its service.

The equipment delivers high-precision real-time information on key variables such as wave height and direction, pressure, tide level, currents and temperature, among other fundamental indicators for the safe and efficient operation of the terminal.

The installation of the tide gauge was carried out over two days, in a coordinated effort between the ITI Information Technology team, the supplier company and specialized divers, who mounted the instrument at a depth of 21 meters, ensuring its correct operation in demanding maritime conditions.

One of the main innovations of the equipment is the integration of a UV light in the sensor head, a technology that prevents the adhesion of marine flora and fauna, thus guaranteeing the quality and continuity of the collected data.

The head of ITI Systems, Ignacio Méndez, highlighted that “renewing the tide gauge allows us to access much more precise and timely data, essential for operational decision-making and coordination with stakeholders such as the Maritime Authority.”

According to the concessionaire, the data generated by this system not only benefits ITI’s internal planning, but is also available to the Maritime Authority, strengthening coordination and management of port movement.
