On June 23, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the delivery of the scientific research vessel “Xiangyanghong 01”, this “mobile maritime laboratory” tasked with national deep-sea exploration missions successfully completed its ten-year special inspection and major refit at Lianyungang Port Lunbo Hongyun Industrial Co., Ltd., and is about to return to the ocean. Wei Zexun, Director of the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Party Secretary Liu Xu, and Group Vice President Wang Xinwen attended the departure ceremony.

The successful implementation of this maintenance project not only marks that Lianyungang Port possesses “shipbuilding-level” hardcore support capabilities in the field of high-tech ship repair, but also highlights the port’s solid strength in serving the national “Maritime Power” strategy and safeguarding deep-sea scientific research endeavors.

As the flagship vessel of the national ocean survey fleet, the “Xiangyanghong 01” is a global-class, unlimited navigation area comprehensive research vessel integrating multi-disciplinary, multi-functional, and multi-technical means, known as the “mobile maritime laboratory”.

The special inspection project carried out in Lianyungang this time was not only a comprehensive “physical examination” of its ten-year deep blue journey, but also a deep “upgrade” covering over a hundred items including hull anti-corrosion, dynamic positioning system maintenance, and conversion of ballast water tanks to diesel oil tanks. Facing challenges such as narrow working spaces and stringent technical requirements, Lianyungang Port Hongyun Company, as a national-level specialized and sophisticated “Little Giant” enterprise, innovatively adopted the “shipbuilding-level ship repair” model, integrating full-process quality control standards into every inspection and repair procedure, ensuring this major national equipment returns to the deep blue in optimal condition.

At the departure ceremony, Wang Xinwen stated in his speech that the First Institute of Oceanography choosing Lianyungang Port as the service support unit for the “Xiangyanghong 01” is a high recognition of the port’s service support capabilities. Taking this successful support as a new starting point, Lianyungang Port will rely on the professional platform of Hongyun Company to continuously deepen collaboration with research institutes such as the First Institute of Oceanography and authoritative units, providing full-process, high-quality services for various high-end vessels, and helping the construction of a maritime power reach new heights.

The complete success of this mission marks the third deep collaboration between Lianyungang Port and the Ship Management Center of the First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources.

The two sides worked efficiently together during the construction, overcoming multiple technical difficulties. This not only verified the port’s hardcore strength in ensuring the operation and maintenance of major national scientific research facilities, but also further confirmed its key role in serving the nation’s deep-sea scientific research endeavors.

As the “Xiangyanghong 01” sets sail once again, Lianyungang Port Hongyun Company will take this opportunity to continue polishing its “golden signboard” of high-tech maintenance services, contributing more port strength to the development of China’s deep-sea scientific research endeavors and the construction of a maritime power.
