Dionisi justifies the decision with public order reasons. The unions speak of a victory for the mobilization

Livorno – The prefect of Livorno, Giancarlo Dionisi, during a meeting in the prefecture with unions and port actors, announced that he had requested and obtained that the ship Zim Virginia leave the port within one hour. The decision was justified by the need to protect public order and safety in an already tense situation, aggravated by the developments in the Flotilla affair.
The container ship belongs to the Israeli company Zim and had been the subject of protest by the unions. The general secretary of the CGIL Livorno, Gianfranco Francese, described the ship’s departure from the port as an important result for the community, emphasizing the city’s rejection of what has been called the genocidal strategy of the Netanyahu government.
The USB also claimed the choice as a victory for the strike proclaimed in protest, noting that the Zim Virginia would not have performed either unloading or loading operations at the Tuscan port.
