MISC Group has expanded its global LNG fleet to 32 vessels with the naming of the 174,000 CBM carriers Seri Dian and Seri Dayang, purpose-built by Hanwha Ocean to support a long-term charter with ExxonMobil subsidiary SeaRiver Maritime. These next-generation ships integrate advanced ICER technology and smart systems to enhance operational efficiency, marking a milestone in a partnership that recently achieved two million safe man-hours with zero lost-time injuries.

Kuala Lumpur | May 8, 2026 – In a significant expansion of its ultra-modern energy transport portfolio, MISC Group (MISC) officially named two new-generation Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, the Seri Dian and Seri Dayang, during a ceremony held on 7 May 2026.

The delivery of these vessels marks a critical milestone in the deepening long-term partnership between MISC and SeaRiver Maritime LLC (SRM), a wholly owned subsidiary of global energy giant ExxonMobil. These assets are destined to serve SRM under long-term time charter agreements, reinforcing a collaboration built on high-performance logistics and operational reliability.

Constructed by the renowned Hanwha Ocean Co., Ltd., both vessels boast a substantial capacity of 174,000 CBM. Beyond sheer scale, the Seri Dian and Seri Dayang represent the cutting edge of maritime decarbonization and efficiency.

Key technical specifications include:

The naming of the vessels follows MISC’s storied Seri tradition, a nomenclature that pays homage to Malaysian maritime heritage.

Together, these names are intended to reflect the symbolic identity of a fleet that balances industrial power with operational sophistication.

During the ceremony, Zahid Osman, President & Group Chief Executive Officer of MISC, emphasized that these vessels are more than just hardware; they are a manifestation of the group’s “Delivering Progress” strategy.

“The naming of Seri Dian and Seri Dayang marks another important step forward in how we are Delivering Progress at MISC, driven by disciplined growth and operational excellence in delivering energy safely, reliably and efficiently.”

“Our partnership with SeaRiver Maritime continues to exemplify this approach. Built on a strong foundation of trust and performance, it demonstrates how purposeful collaboration enables us to turn shared ambition into meaningful action,” said Osman.

Zahid Osman also highlighted the project’s impeccable safety record, noting that the management of the construction phase contributed to a cumulative two million safe man-hours as of 30 March 2026.

“With Zero Lost Time Injury, this bears testament that when people come first, performance follows. These two magnificent vessels will carry that promise of safety and excellence across the world’s oceans for many years to come.”

The naming ceremony was officiated by Mrs. Hanh Nguyen, who served as the Lady Sponsor for both vessels. The high-profile event drew a global delegation of maritime leaders, including:

With these additions, MISC now operates four LNG carriers specifically for SeaRiver Maritime, further solidifying the group’s status as a preferred partner for ExxonMobil’s global upstream and downstream logistics.

The arrival of the Seri Dian and Seri Dayang brings the MISC LNG fleet to a total of 32 vessels.

This expansion secures MISC’s position as one of the world’s leading owner-operators in the LNG space, characterized by best-in-class safety standards and a commitment to the energy transition.
