One of the main, if not the main, container shipping services between Asia and the Mediterranean will be transferred by MSC from its transhipment hub in Gioia Tauro to the Conateco terminal in Naples. The CEO of the latter terminal, Pasquale Legora de Feo, confirms to SHIPPING ITALY what was revealed by Dynaliners in its latest weekly report, which states that “MSC will reorganize its Dragon and Tiger services between the Mediterranean and the Far East.”

As for the service renamed Dragon, the Swiss shipping company will replace Busan, Nansha, Gioia Tauro and Charleston with Malaga, Naples, Baltimore and Savannah, while the “Tiger” service will be extended to Hong Kong and Aliaga, at the expense of Tema and Singapore (eastbound). This rotation employs ultra large container carrier vessels of 16,000 TEU, which will be the largest and with the greatest cargo capacity ever to call at Campanian ports.

The new rotations are therefore as follows. The Dragon will call at Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen (Yantian), Singapore, Malaga, Genoa, La Spezia, Naples, Sines, Boston, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Savannah, Freeport and back to Ningbo. The planned ports of call for the Tiger will instead be Dalian, Tianjin, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen (Shekou), Singapore, Tekirdag, Izmit (Yarimca), Istanbul (Ambarli), Tekirdag, Aliaga, Mersin, Abidjan, Lomé, Hong Kong, Xiamen and back to Dalian.
