The new Celebrity Cruises ship, Celebrity Xcel, successfully completed sea trials off the coast of Saint-Nazaire, France, in the Bay of Biscay, near the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard.

Under the command of Captain Kyriakos “Captain Kirk” Matragkas, the vessel underwent a series of maneuverability tests to evaluate its functional and operational performance before entering service.

After the trials, Celebrity Xcel is on track to debut in November with inaugural sailings from Fort Lauderdale.

The debut season begins in November 2025 in the Caribbean. The ship is 327 meters long and 39 meters wide, making it the largest ship in the Edge class to date. It features 17 decks and has a capacity for 3,260 passengers.

Continuing with its Edge class, Celebrity will receive a sixth ship from Chantiers de l’Atlantique in 2028.
