On June 22, Hengli Heavy Industry held a grand naming ceremony for the 114,000 DWT LR2 product oil tanker “Pioneer Venture” built for Wah Kwong Maritime Transport, and on the same day delivered a 306,000 DWT VLCC “FRONT CLYDE” to Norway’s Seatankers. Delivering two high-end oil tankers in one day, the rhythm of paced construction and batch delivery is steady and strong.
“Pioneer Venture” is the second LR2 product oil tanker built by Hengli Heavy Industry for Wah Kwong Maritime Transport. The first vessel, “Frontier Venture,” was successfully delivered in March this year and has demonstrated excellent operational performance.
As a new-generation LR2 tanker, “Pioneer Venture” combines technical advantages such as safety, green technology, and intelligence, meeting EEDI Phase III standards, with its degree of intelligence and various performance indicators reaching internationally advanced levels. The vessel has a total length of 248.8 meters, a beam of 44 meters, and a depth of 21.5 meters. The living quarters on board are designed with human-centric features exceeding industry standards.
On the same day, Hengli Heavy Industry delivered the third 306,000 DWT VLCC “FRONT CLYDE” to Norway’s Seatankers, nearly five months ahead of the contract date. Its excellent trial voyage performance earned high praise from the shipowner. The VLCCs already delivered and in operation have demonstrated outstanding performance in all aspects, with leading technical levels and “five-star” living quarters receiving unanimous acclaim from the shipowner.
From the global record set at the beginning of the month with the simultaneous naming and delivery of two VLCCs, to the good news of the smooth delivery of two oil tankers on the same day—Hengli Heavy Industry showcases its strong capability for batch construction of ultra-large vessels with a dense and orderly delivery rhythm.
As of now, Hengli Heavy Industry has commenced construction on 152 ships, with over 80,000 workers on site, processing 3 million tons of steel plates annually. It is expected to deliver 82 ships this year, increasing to 120 next year, and over 200 the year after.
At the same time, the first workshops of the Phase III “Innovation Factory” and Phase IV “Revitalization Factory” under construction by Hengli Heavy Industry have been put into use. The two newly built world-class super dry docks can simultaneously construct twelve 24,000 TEU ultra-large container ships.
