Pembina Pipeline Corporation and PETRONAS have signed a 20-year deal granting PETRONAS 1 million tonnes per annum of liquefaction capacity at the Cedar LNG project in Kitimat, B.C. The agreement provides PETRONAS with an additional Canadian export outlet and ensures Pembina a long-term take-or-pay revenue stream. Both companies highlighted the project’s advantages—low-cost feedstock, shorter shipping routes to Asia, and lower emissions, as key to meeting growing Asian demand. The US$4 billion Cedar LNG facility, developed with the Haisla Nation, remains on schedule for late 2028 startup.
