Between January and September 2025, 62% of agro-exports sent from Peru to China were mobilized through the Port of Chancay, according to Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

Since the start of its operations in November 2024, the complex has recorded exports worth USD 477 million, of which USD 446 million correspond to the January-September 2025 period alone.

China has consolidated its position as the main destination for exports mobilized from Chancay, accounting for 78% of the total, followed by Mexico and Ecuador.

69% of the shipments through Chancay came from regions in the country’s interior, mainly La Libertad (44%), Lambayeque (8%), and Ica (7%).

In the January-September period of this year, Peru exported agricultural goods to China worth USD 338 million, of which USD 210 million left through the Chancay facility.

Agricultural goods represent 57% of the value exported through this port, mainly blueberries, avocados, grapes, and tangerines. Agricultural producers find this port a more competitive alternative for accessing the Asian market.

Likewise, the Peruvian foreign trade regulator also highlighted shipments from the fishing sector (17%), minerals (16%), and chemical products (9%).

For this year, the movement of the Port of Chancay is estimated to reach 350,000 TEU, and in 2026 it is expected to exceed 700,000 TEU, positioning itself as the country’s second busiest terminal after the port facility of Callao.

In line with the above, DP World Callao, the concessionaire of the Southern Dock, mobilized 1,540,684 TEU from January to September 2025, which was equivalent to 52.3% of the total handled in Peru, according to the National Port Authority (APN).

For its part, APM Terminals Callao, the operator of the Northern Dock, handled 932,960 TEU in the same time frame, corresponding to 31.7% of the total transferred by the South American country during that period.
