The Port of Manzanillo transfers 42% of the containerized cargo mobilized in Mexico, according to the director of the Manzanillo National Port System Administration, Admiral Guillermo Mejía.
The head of the entity emphasized that in 2024, the facility mobilized 12% of all tons of national cargo and 57% of the cargo operated in the entire Mexican Pacific, which, in his words, reflects the dynamism of the maritime terminal.
During the past year, the Port of Manzanillo handled 33 million 572 thousand 428 tons of cargo, which represented a reduction of 0.8%, in contrast with the annual period of 2023.
In terms of containers, the facility operated a total of three million 924 thousand 501 twenty-foot containers (TEU, an acronym for a maritime measurement unit) or 6.1% more compared to 2023, according to data from the local port authority.
Imports totaled one million 698 thousand 352 TEU (+12.2%), exports one million 627 thousand 636 TEU, and transshipment 598 thousand 513 TEU (-0.2%).
