The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) confirmed construction on the Contrecœur terminal will begin this fall once final agreements are signed, starting with site prep and followed by water works. Alongside the build, MPA is implementing habitat compensation plans for fish, birds, bats, and bank swallows, with further measures such as tree planting, wetlands, and copper redhorse food beds set for completion this year. The project aims to boost trade capacity while meeting strict environmental requirements.
