Shanghai Port, in China, ranks as the one with the best connectivity in the world in the third quarter of 2025, according to the Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) developed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad).

The system measures the degree of integration of ports into global regular maritime transport networks and is calculated based on indicators such as the number of shipping companies providing service, the capacity of the largest ships operating, the number of ports connected directly, the frequency of weekly calls, and the annual capacity measured in TEU.

On a global scale, shipping leadership is dominated by Asian ports, as after Shanghai (2,433.97 points), there are Ningbo, also in China, (2,020.10); Singapore (1,859.03); Busan, in South Korea (1,625.05); and Qingdao, in China (1,367.19).

In Europe, Rotterdam, Netherlands, maintains the first position and the tenth globally (952.13), followed by Antwerp, Belgium (879.01); Hamburg, Germany (698.80); and Valencia, Spain (586.39).
