The company Aceinsa Cantábrico, SA will be in charge of improving the security perimeter between the pedestrian access of Raos and gate 1 of the railway access in the Port of Santander for an amount of 290,935 euros (USD 341,218) and an execution period of three months. The work is scheduled to begin this coming October.

The objective is, as explained by the president of the APS, César Díaz, “to continue improving the security levels of the port area, preventing the entry of unauthorized people.”

The new enclosure, which is being carried out progressively along the entire port perimeter and will have the same typology as that installed in the most urban area, will reach 4.5 meters in height and will have an upper finish of curved tubes that makes climbing even more difficult and, therefore, intrusion.

In addition, the installation of new lighting and control cameras in this area is contemplated to, as Díaz points out, “improve visibility and surveillance in this section of the port enclosure.”

Investment Plan

The improvement of the enclosure in the port perimeter is one of the actions included in the APS Investment Plan for the period 2025-2029 whose objective is, as Díaz pointed out, “to increase the capacity and efficiency of our infrastructures.”

The document, which has a forecast for public-private investment of 270.3 million euros (VAT excluded), of which 149.9 correspond to the public administration and 120.4 to the private initiative, includes works related to the construction and rehabilitation of docks and port infrastructures, urbanizations and paving, port buildings, sustainability, energy, digitalization or innovation, among others.

Among the main works are the construction of the Raos 6 dock, the heel and ramp of Raos 9, the expansion of the car silo or the improvement of several of the port’s docks.
