Mr. Gikas announced that by the end of 2025 approximately 26 million euros will be paid for the Passenger and Business Transport Equivalent, while he pre-announced a simplification of the procedures of the Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water RAAEY for the islands affected by water scarcity.
He pointed out that subsidies for unprofitable lines increased from 90 million euros in 2019 to 168 million euros in 2025, now serving 77 lines, while the new Alexandroupoli–Sigri–Mesta–Piraeus connection worth 13 million euros is being completed.
He finally stressed that the Ministry is working towards the European recognition of the “Insularity Clause”, strengthening Greece’s international presence and insular cohesion.
