GENOA – A five-day strike starting today, called by Filt Cgil Genoa and Uiltrasporti Liguria, at the Bettolo Terminal of the port of Genoa to protest against “a terrible work organization that is severely penalizing the workforce” – states the union note – “We do not understand how it is possible that after five years and an extremely long start-up, the company is still not in a position to operate with an adequate work organization” – declare Fabio Ferretti of Filt Cgil Genoa, Duilio Falvo, secretary of the port of Genoa for Uiltrasporti Liguria, and Stefano degli Innocenti, port official of Genoa for Uiltrasporti Liguria.

“The lack of work organization, caused by incomprehensible corporate choices, fails to meet the minimum necessary requirements, both in terms of numbers and setup, to be adopted in the short and medium term to ensure operations while respecting employees’ rights and safety.

Furthermore, the concerns raised regarding worker training persist, with workers frequently assigned an excessive number of different tasks within the same shift. This situation has further worsened with the start of railway operations in the ‘Rugna’ park.

Filt Cgil and Uiltrasporti demand that this situation change quickly: the workers and their representatives remain available with the willingness, professionalism, and sense of responsibility they have demonstrated so far, but they are not willing to continue working under the current conditions.”
