Within the framework of the anniversary month of Terminal Puerto Arica, the TPA Community Fair, Your Port, was held, a day specially designed to bring the port closer to the community and showcase the work carried out day by day by its different operational and support areas.
During the activity, people were able to visit the TPA information stands, where the teams presented the main processes and safety, sustainability, and development measures that are part of port activities.
Furthermore, allied institutions participated such as the Maritime Government of Arica, the Instituto de Seguridad del Trabajo (IST), the Liceo Domingo Santa María, Sernameg, Empresa Portuaria Arica (EPA), the Dirección de Prevención y Seguridad Humana (Dipreseh) and the Dirección de Salud Municipal (Disam), who shared information and educational material with the attendees.
The director of Sernameg, Camila Roberts Azócar, indicated that “we are very happy to participate in this community fair organized by TPA, an instance that reinforces the commitment and strategic alliances we have built together with the company through our Good Labor Practices program. Today we are present providing guidance and information to the community and disseminating our campaign for the prevention of violence against women.”
For his part, Daniel Romero, TPA’s People and Sustainability sub-manager, stated that “within the framework of the 21 years of Terminal Puerto Arica, this fair represents an opportunity to continue strengthening the relationship with our community. We have invited various actors from the logistics chain and local institutions so that they can show the important role played by the port sector, as well as its link with the neighborhood associations of the old town and the high schools that promote training in port careers.”
Meanwhile, Javier Rivera, acting general manager of Empresa Portuaria Arica, stated that “we are very happy to celebrate together with our strategic partner, Terminal Puerto Arica, its 21 years of history. This community fair reflects the joint commitment to the city and the connection with the environment. These have been years of growth in employment, competitiveness, and development for the Andean macro-zone, and we are happy to be part of this shared path.”
The day was marked by an atmosphere of celebration and closeness, with artistic presentations by the Orfeón de Arica and the singer Luciano Voz, in addition to contests, raffles, and surprises.
Wilhem Peters Díaz, sub-manager of Prevention at IST Arica, declared that “we are accompanying TPA on its 21st anniversary, participating in this fair that brings together various institutions linked to the port. As IST, we wanted to be a part of it with our stand and health team that provides 24/7 service within the port, supporting the operations that take place day and night at Terminal Puerto Arica.”
“We are very grateful for the invitation to this fair where Terminal Puerto Arica shows the important role it plays in the region and its support for our students. These instances allow us to see up close its commitment to the community,” concluded Doris Aguilar Díaz, Head of Production at the Liceo Bicentenario Domingo Santa María.
