Mibau Stema Group, based in Denmark, has enrolled two new bulk carriers at the Chengxi shipyard in China.

These newbuilds will be constructed to be ready for biofuels and methanol as part of Mibau Stema’s strategic goal to enhance transport capabilities, increase operational versatility, and transition towards more sustainable shipping practices.

The order was placed in collaboration with the Hartmann family from Germany and Canada Steamship Lines (CSL). Mibau Stema said it anticipates that these new additions will not only enhance transport capacity but also improve operational flexibility within its trade network. Currently, the company manages a fleet of seven modern self-discharging vessels, serving over 40 terminals throughout the North Sea and Baltic Regions.

Mibau Stema is a partnership between Heidelberg Materials, formerly known as HeidelbergCement, and the Hartmann family. CSL and Hartmann have a well-established connection with the Chengxi shipyard. Candeu, a joint venture between CSL and Hartmann Schiffsbeteiligungen, has built and previously owned two 40,700 DWT self-unloading vessels at the same shipyard under long-term time charter agreements with Mibau Stema.

The two new ships are scheduled to be integrated into the Mibau Stema fleet starting in September 2028.
