MARUF’25, organized this year with the theme ‘On the Edge of All Possibles’, continues at the Haliç Congress Center with over 500 speakers from 50 countries and more than 5000 participants. All events, from the sessions prepared within the forum to city routes, from workshops to exhibitions, from bazaars to stand areas, continue with high participation. The recycling exhibition prepared by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Parks and Gardens Department Head Office, using waste retrieved from the Sea of Marmara and collected during beach clean-up efforts, also attracted great interest from local and foreign guests. The exhibition, prepared with car tires, plastic bottles, pallets, and discarded items, once again revealed how cruel people can be towards nature.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey also visited the exhibition where waste was transformed into works of art and received information from the authorities about the study. Stating that the exhibition was prepared to create social awareness about the environment, Mayor Mustafa Bozbey said, “If we want to leave a cleaner environment for future generations, we must protect our nature. Our teams collect a lot of waste from the sea. We are all surprised when we see the waste coming out of the sea during cleaning. We have processed some of the waste in our workshops, transforming it into art, making it usable. We saw that tires, barrels, bicycles, and many materials were used. With this exhibition, we have shown that products thrown into the sea or nature can actually be reused. Participants coming to MARUF’25 are also showing interest in the exhibition. Let’s protect our environment and our nature. Let’s not pollute.”

Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who also participated in the ‘Play Marmara Sea’ event held within the scope of MARUF’25, played the game together with Gebze Municipality Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz and Kartal Municipality Mayor Gökhan Yüksel. Choosing the ‘Clean Production, Innovative Practices’ card, Mayor Mustafa Bozbey said, “We must protect the Sea of Marmara. There is intensive industrial construction around the Marmara Sea. Accordingly, a population of over 30 million lives in the Marmara Region. This brings an incredible pollution load to the Sea of Marmara. The way to prevent this is for all municipalities with a coast on the Marmara Sea to establish Advanced Biological Treatment plants. Thus, treated water will be released into the Sea of Marmara. We must save the Sea of Marmara by joining hands as an entire country.”

Mayor Mustafa Bozbey also participated in the weaving workshops set up within the Marmara Urban Forum, where waste fabrics were brought back to life, and contributed to the workshop by weaving the fabrics with his own hands. Stating that the weaving made is a symbol of recycling and sustainable living, Mayor Bozbey said, “Every waste, when evaluated with the right methods, becomes hope for the future. Spreading recycling to every area of life for cleaner, greener, and more livable cities is the responsibility of all of us.”
