On October 10th, Wuhu Shipyard reached a key milestone for the second 38,000-ton stainless steel chemical tanker (Hull No. W23102) built for the internationally renowned shipowner Stolt—the successful cutting of the first steel plate, marking the official commencement of the vessel’s construction phase.

As the second vessel in this series, the commencement of Hull No. 2 is not only the start of a new project but also a significant milestone in the profound cooperative relationship between Wuhu Shipyard, the shipowner Stolt, and the classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR). During the preliminary project preparations, the resident shipowner team and the LR surveyors provided substantial support, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progression of the subsequent construction work.

This vessel continues the advanced design of the first ship and is an Ocean Class II stainless steel /product tanker with high technological content and stringent construction standards. The vessel has an overall length of 184.9 meters and a beam of 32.2 meters. It is equipped with thirty duplex stainless steel S31803 cargo tanks, providing strong cargo carrying and compatibility capabilities. The ship is propelled by a single screw, will be classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR), and is planned to sail under the Liberian flag.

The successful commencement of the 38002 vessel injects strong momentum into the company’s push to achieve its fourth-quarter production targets. The project team will adhere to its consistent high standards and strict requirements, going all out to ensure the vessel is built faster, better, and to a higher standard, adding another quality vessel “Made by Wuhu Shipyard” to the global high-end liquid cargo transport market.
