On September 29, 2025, China Marine Bunker partnered with Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group to supply green methanol to the vessel “COSCO SHIPPING LIBRA” at Ningbo Meishan Port Area. This successfully completed Zhejiang Province’s first ship green methanol bunkering operation, presenting a dual gift for the National Day and the global shipping industry’s green transition.
Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent IMO environmental regulations, green methanol has become a core fuel for low-carbon shipping transformation due to its advantages of near-zero sulfur oxide emissions, over 80% reduction in nitrogen oxides, and up to 95% reduction in carbon emissions throughout its lifecycle.
The successful implementation of this operation demonstrates efficient government-enterprise collaboration. The Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Government attached great importance, the Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Government supervised, and multiple departments including Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration and Transportation Bureau formed a “Green Bunkering Task Force.” Through multiple joint meetings and a customized “one area, one ship, one policy” plan, they ensured the entire process was safe and controllable, laying a solid foundation for the port to build an efficient and comprehensive supply chain integrated service system.
Globally, China Marine Bunker has achieved regular green fuel supply at major domestic ports and is extending its green fuel bunkering network along the “Belt and Road” to Southeast Asia, Europe, and even major ports worldwide, contributing more “Bunker Strength” to the low-carbon transformation of the port and shipping industry.
