On May 7, the N1236 project, the first 64,000-ton series bulk carrier built by Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry for COSCO Shipping Bulk, was successfully launched.
Guo Yu, the shipowner’s site manager, Han Chenjian, the project manager of China Classification Society, Yao Daojiang, deputy general manager of Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, Ruan Junjie, assistant general manager, as well as representatives from the project team and supervision team, jointly attended the ceremony to witness this important moment.
The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a molded breadth of 32.26 meters, and a design draft of 11.3 meters. The project adopts the latest design from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Design & Research Institute, meets the requirements of EEDI Phase III, is equipped with an intelligent ship system and cybersecurity protection scheme, and has methanol-ready预留 capability. Through technical optimization, fuel consumption and carbon emissions are effectively reduced, helping customers seize opportunities in green shipping development and promoting the low-carbon transformation of the fleet.
Since the keel laying on March 16, the project management team has scientifically coordinated, clarified key milestones, responsible departments, and resource allocation standards for each phase, and optimized resource scheduling based on actual progress to ensure coordinated advancement of all processes.
At the time of launching, all painting work for ballast tanks had been completed and accepted, commissioning and acceptance of distribution panel shore power connection, monitoring alarm activation, main generator running, gangway functional test, and air compressor debugging had been completed, and shaft alignment, rudder installation, and epoxy acceptance had been finished.
Going forward, the project team will anchor the delivery target, strictly control production progress and quality, and fully advance equipment commissioning, sea trials, and other tasks to ensure the vessel is delivered on schedule with high quality.
