Beijing, Oct 29 (Xinhua) — According to data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on the 29th, the total value of social logistics in the first three quarters nationwide was 263.2 trillion yuan (Renminbi, same below), a year-on-year increase of 5.4% calculated at comparable prices.

In the first three quarters of this year, China’s total social logistics value maintained steady growth, and the demand structure continued to optimize and upgrade. The supply side of logistics worked in synergy, with diversified development in segmented sectors, and the overall prosperity level of the industry was positive. The achievements in effectively reducing overall social logistics costs were consolidated. In the first three quarters, the total value of industrial product logistics increased by 5.6% year-on-year, contributing 81% to the growth of the total social logistics value, continuously solidifying its core pillar status in the logistics demand of the industrial sector. Driven by continuous policies to expand domestic demand and promote consumption, the potential logistics demand related to units and residents was steadily released. In the first three quarters, the total value of logistics for goods related to units and residents increased by 6.6% year-on-year.

In the first three quarters, the total social logistics cost was 14.2 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. The task of effectively reducing overall social logistics costs in the first three quarters progressed steadily, with results continuously consolidated. Since the beginning of this year, under the basic trend of a stable and upgrading demand structure, the structural optimization efficiency in the logistics transportation sector has been good.

Analysis stated that in the first three quarters of 2025, China’s logistics operations showed a good development trend of “stabilizing with acceleration, and improving both quality and efficiency”. The growth rate of the total social logistics value was basically stable, the demand structure continued to optimize, the supply quality steadily improved, and the results of cost reduction and efficiency enhancement were significant. Especially since the third quarter, new characteristics of logistics operations became more prominent, with coordinated development in segmented sectors such as e-commerce logistics, aviation logistics, and cross-border logistics, providing strong support for economic and social development. It is expected that in the fourth quarter, as sectors like maritime shipping and e-commerce express logistics enter their traditional peak season, China’s logistics demand is expected to stabilize and rebound.
