Perú: Paltas predominate among products exported through the Port of Chancay

Avocados, metallic minerals, gunpowder and explosives, palm oil and grapes were among the export goods with the highest movement through the Port of Chancay, whose total export value has reached 1,343,821,072 dollars since the start of its operations.

According to the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), avocados concentrated 37% of the declared value of exports mobilized by the port terminal, followed by metallic minerals with 29%, gunpowder and explosives with 6%, palm oil with 5% and grapes with 3.6%. The main destinations of these exports were China, the Netherlands, Spain and Chile.

The Multipurpose Port Terminal of Chancay has mobilized 425,427 containers since the start of its operations. Of the total, the transshipment regime represents 47% with 200,046 containers, while imports reach 32% with 137,647 containers and exports 21% with 87,743 containers.

In the case of imports, the total value amounted to 2,323,187,407 dollars. The goods with the highest movement, according to declared value, are vehicles (27%), machinery (17%), cereals (8%) and electrical equipment (8%).

The main countries of origin of these goods were China, which concentrates 75% of the total imported, followed by Argentina with 10% and the United States with 4%.

Regarding the transshipment regime, the main countries of origin of the goods were China, Chile, Mexico and Ecuador, while the most important destinations are Chile, China and Japan.

Among the goods in transshipment, salmon (14%), pine wood (8%) and metals (8%) predominated, with the main trade route being the one connecting China, Peru and Chile.

Likewise, 3,517,819 tons of bulk cargo have been mobilized through the Port of Chancay. Of this volume, 71% equivalent to 2,514,227 tons entered under the import regime for consumption, mainly corn, cement and other products. Bulk cargo represented 27.5% of the total cargo movement recorded at the port terminal.

Imports made through the port of Chancay generated revenue of 1,037 million soles (USD 304.9 million) during 2025. Meanwhile, between January and May 2026, the accumulated revenue amounts to 603 million soles (USD 177.3 million).
