Recently, the construction project of a new 20-meter-class high-performance patrol and rescue vessel designed by Wuhan Ship Design and Research Institute for the Yangtze Maritime Safety Administration successfully passed the expert review meeting organized by the Yangtze River Administration of Navigational Affairs. Deputy Director Gao Youquan of the Yangtze Maritime Safety Administration, along with relevant personnel from the Comprehensive Planning Department and Infrastructure & Equipment Department, as well as Secretary Zhang Zaifu of Wuhan Ship Design and Research Institute and project team members, attended the meeting.

The new vessel has an overall length of approximately 20 meters and a beam of about 4.5 meters. It adopts a hybrid diesel-electric and pure-electric propulsion system, with a maximum speed of [speed] km/h in hybrid mode and a cruising range of 540 km at a speed of [speed] km/h. Its design incorporates low-carbon and eco-friendly concepts, optimizing the power system and energy management to effectively reduce the impact of official law enforcement vessels on the river basin’s ecology, achieving a win-win for both safety and environmental protection.

This project not only aims to enhance the equipment development level of the Yangtze Maritime Safety Administration and promote the upgrade of green and intelligent patrol vessels but also, under the guidance of the “Yangtze River Protection” and “Transportation Powerhouse” strategies, serves as a concrete practice to implement the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the national “Dual Carbon Strategy,” and the promotion of green transportation development. It will further improve the water traffic safety supervision capabilities along the Yangtze River trunk line.

In the next phase, Wuhan Ship Design and Research Institute will continue to leverage its leading role in green and intelligent ship technology, deepening cooperation with the Yangtze Maritime Safety Administration to contribute wisdom and strength to the governance of Yangtze waters, shipping safety, and the high-quality development of the regional economy.
